This is a close up of the footing drain on the outside of the foundation.
Dirt is put on
top of this stone with the 1/2" spaces in it. I want to ask you a
question - what do you think will happen to the little particles of
dirt when water washes through it?
Right -- the little particles of dirt are swept with the water into the stone and the footing drain.
And that process
continues until the drain is clogged. This is why so many homeowners go
for years with no water problem and one day start to develop one. And
as this drain clogs more and more, the water problem gets worse and
worse.
